Reservations Policy

Please reserve your instrument as far in advance as is practical.

Typically this is 24 hours, or more, in advance so Dr. McNamara can check on planned image core use before going home each afternoon and on arrival each morning.

Walk in users: please reserve your time slot on this Online Scheduler when you arrive at the instrument. This way other users, and Dr. McNamara, can see the instrument is busy, and not waste a trip coming over to use an insgtrument that is occupied.

If you know you will not be able to make a reservation, please cancel or move it. If you are not in a position to log in to the reservation system, you can email Dr.McNamara (gmcnama2@jhmi.edu).

We are here to provide excellent customer service. Please help us help you by using these rules.

If you have any questions or other items, please contact Dr. McNamara and/or Image Core Director Prof. Bin Wu (bwu20@jhmi.edu), G.I. Center Director Prof. Mark Donowitz (mdonowit@jhmi.edu).

Some instruments have "priority access" policies because owned by one or more labs and managed by us.

  • Keyence microscope: Co-owned by Prof. Mark Donowitz (G.I.) and Prof. Peter Andersen (Cardiology) --
    • members of these two groups can sign up 1+ weeks in advance, all others should sign up <1 week in advance.
    • Multi-hour experiments: should be conducted overnight, not take up significant workday hours (ex. 4pm Tue -> 9am Wed, not 10am-3pm).
Multi-day experiments: should be conducted over weekend (ex. 4pm Fri -> 9am Mon).

  • ACCM Leica SP8 confocal microscope (i) reserved though iLab; (ii) ACCM staff can book 'as far in advance' as they want, non-ACCM users are encouraged to not book more than 1 week in advance (if you have special experiments that require longer planning, we ask that you contact Dr. McNamara.

Room lights: on or off? ... Policy is 'first come, first chooses'. That is, the first user to arrive and sign in control the room lighting for the duration of their imaging sessions. Other users should abide by the choice of the first to arrive. That said, if there are any 'issues', please (i) work collegially and (ii) contact George McNamara for assistance.

This is mostly relevant currently for the Ross S910A room. the Department of Medicine is providing funding to eliminate the 'room light issue' for S910A. Please be patient while we work with D.o.M. and contractors to get blackout curtains and track lights installed.

sincerely,

George
